California is home to some of the country’s true elite, and plenty of billionaires live within the state’s borders. Here at Suzanne Dranow we think that taking a closer look at some of the most high-end property portfolios in the state can help shed some light on just what investing in homes here can offer to someone. A perfect example of this is David Geffen. The entertainment mogul owns some of California’s most exclusive properties, and many of them are located in or around the Malibu area.
With that in mind, here’s a look at just a couple of his current real estate holdings.
- Carbon Beach Compound – The most notable of Geffen’s holdings are the five parcels he owns along Malibu’s Carbon Beach. About a half dozen billionaires own homes here, and Geffen tore down multiple homes in order to create his primary compound. It’s currently valued at around $21.3 million and features a wide range of amenities including access to some of the best beachfront property in the world.
- Jack Warner Estate – Once owned by founder of Warner Brothers, this 13,600 square foot home is rumored to feature the very floor that Napoleon stood on when he proposed to Josephine. It was built in 1937 and was purchased for $47.5 million in 1990 by Geffen, though today’s value is much higher.
These two properties are Geffen’s primary California homes, and while he owns properties in New York and multiple yachts, they’re certainly his most impressive homes as well. They’re just two examples of what California homes have to offer residents, too. The state is filled with some of the most impressive homes including those located nearby the Geffen estates, and it’s well worth taking a look at everything there is on the market as well as talking to realtors to find out what kind of listings might be available off the market.
Geffen isn’t likely to list any of his properties anytime soon, but you can most likely find homes that fit your needs if you know where to look, and a good realtor will be the key to finding that perfect property. Pay attention to what’s out there, and you could find your dream home as well.
