The Amazing Homes Of Oprah Winfrey

The Amazing Homes Of Oprah Winfrey Few people have had as impressive an impact on modern media and culture as Oprah Winfrey. She’s still considered the second most powerful celebrity in the world by Forbes, and with a net worth of more than $3 billion dollars she has built an empire that few other celebrities can hope to match. Her accolades include numerous titles, and she’s been called the single most important black philanthropist in history.

Along with her good deeds and charity work, Winfrey has built up an impressive portfolio for herself. Here at Suzanne Dranow we’re most interested in her real estate holdings, obviously, and think that her properties deserve a little closer attention.

Winfrey owns numerous properties, including:

  • An apartment in Chicago that features 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, 10 foot ceilings, and a 1,241 square foot master suite. The entire complex is 15, 00 square feet and is located centrally in the city on Michigan Avenue.
  • A farmhouse in Kula Hawaii that features pristine views and a whimsical farmhouse design. That was renovated by famous New York Designer Ellie Cullman. Winfrey purchased 63 acres of land by the nearby Hamoa Beach several years after buying the home.
  • A ski villa in Telluride Colorado that provides her with easy access to the slopes as well as luxurious accommodations and a classic American style.

However, it’s Winfrey’s primary home that stands out as something amazing. Known as ‘The Promised Land”, this 42 acre estate is located in Montecito, California and features stunning ocean and mountain views as well as six bedrooms, 14 bathrooms, 10 fireplaces two movie theaters, a barn, a tennis court, and a separate guesthouse with a pool.

The property began to be developed around 1912, and the home as it currently stands was built in 1959 – along with numerous additions throughout the years including many that Oprah oversaw. The entire property is valued at about $88 million, and the property’s gardener actually spent four years developing and breeding a unique species of rosebush just for the grounds – named “The Legends”.

Montecito is home to numerous major celebrities, but Oprah is certainly among the biggest. Still, there are properties that go up for sale here on occasion, though they’re not usually listed on the open markets. Instead, you’ll need to turn to a competent realtor to find the right properties for you when they do come up. You might not be able to own “The Promised Land”, but you’ll have plenty of luxury properties to choose from nonetheless.
